How distance learning works

All our courses are structured so that you can supervise the on-site lessons yourself. The role of the supervisor can also be taken on by another German-speaking person (for example, a social year volunteer, au pair). They do not need any pedagogical training for this.

Thanks to the clear structure of the material, extensive lesson planning is eliminated, as our material is developed specifically for distance learning with children. The documents guide you step by step through the curriculum. As a parent, you can supervise the lessons. Pedagogical training is not required for this.

A "grid plan" (lesson overview) and suggestions for a schedule provide important points of orientation for each course.

Additional notes for the supervisor provide security and valuable detailed information.

According to the child's needs

The individual needs of the child can be uniquely taken into account in distance learning, because in distance learning, the child is always "on task."

The supervision is significantly more individual than is possible in a classroom setting. This also applies when several siblings are being taught.

Your child can work at their own learning pace. The suggested schedule can be individually condensed or extended for each course as needed.

Lessons can be individually postponed. For example, if your child is enthusiastically working on a science project, you can spontaneously agree to reschedule the next math lesson.

We do not leave you alone in distance learning! A personal teacher supports you from Germany. The teacher provides you with good advice and enables professional individual support.

One of the hurdles in advising is making it clear to parents: "It works!" I am often asked: "Does it really work?", "Can I teach my child myself?", "How is that supposed to work?" Overcoming this hurdle requires a lot of convincing. I often provide support by sending a letter that our teachers write regularly. This is a good illustration of how it works. I also try to explain the whole process in small steps. I often refer to our many years of experience and the truly excellent feedback we receive. At the end of the conversation, you notice that customers can imagine that it will work.

It is important to me in customer discussions to convey that parents are not left alone. That they have a point of contact here with us for questions that simply arise beyond the material during lessons. This can happen by phone or email. I just want them to feel secure.

Distance learning enables parents to realize their life plans abroad. This can be professional, for example, the desire to take a year-long sailing trip or a sabbatical. With family, with children. Distance schooling makes this possible. Another advantage that parents often reflect to me is that this intensive supervision of the lessons creates a very close relationship with the children. That you work together on a completely different level and that this can lead to good cohesion within the family. Not always – it can also be difficult if parents supervise the lessons. However, there are other solutions for this: bringing an external person into the family, an au pair, or young people who want to spend a social year abroad, or another German-speaking person who is available in the vicinity.
